In the Wake of Violence
We are surrounded by sights and sounds. But there is not one thing like witnessing the wail of loved ones in the wake of violent crime. No matter the circumstances, or how often I do it, photographing grief never gets easier. It’s far and away one of the most difficult things I do. Above, Melvin Marshall leads family and friends of Jazzmyne Bruner in prayer during a candle light vigil. Bruner and her boyfriend Stefon Mayers Jr. were killed in a brazen drive-by shooting.
